Islamabad: In light of the three-month adjustment by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), following the decision to increase electricity rates for six months, monthly rates for protected consumers using 101 to 200 units will now be set at Rs. 35.92 per unit. According to sources, from October 2023 to March 2024, an additional charge of Rs. 2.40 per unit will be applied, and the earlier Rs. 1.24 per unit increase from the three-month adjustment after September will be reversed. After the conclusion of the previous adjustment, the new adjustment will be Rs. 2.40 per unit instead of Rs. 3.28 per unit. Sources have indicated that the three-month adjustment will apply to both protected and non-protected consumers. For protected consumers using up to 100 units per month, the rate will be Rs. 17.07 per unit, while for protected consumers using 101 to 200 units, the rate will be Rs. 19.86 per unit. Non-protected domestic consumers will be charged Rs. 28.16 per unit, and for non-protected consumers using 101 to 200 units, the rate will be Rs. 35.92 per unit. It is worth noting that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had recently increased electricity rates by Rs. 3.28 per unit for the three-month adjustment. NEPRA has informed that this adjustment will be implemented after approval from the federal government. NEPRA has stated that consumers will make additional payments within six months, from October 2023 to March 2024. According to NEPRA, consumers will make monthly payments of Rs. 3.28 per unit for this period, and this increase will also apply to electric consumers.<\/p>\n
