Chilas: In the Chilas region of Gilgit-Baltistan, an incident occurred on the Karakoram Highway where unknown individuals opened fire on a bus. This resulted in a fatal accident, claiming the lives of 8 individuals. According to the police, the firing incident took place near Hador, leading to a collision between the bus and a truck, followed by a fire on the bus.
Deputy Commissioner Diamer, Arif Ahmed, reported that the bus had 26 passengers at the time of the incident. Eight individuals lost their lives, and 16 others sustained injuries. According to the police, the passenger bus was traveling from Ghizer district to Rawalpindi. Emergency teams have been dispatched to the scene of the accident, as reported by Deputy Commissioner Chilas.
Deputy Commissioner Chilas mentioned that the bodies and the injured have been transferred to the Regional Headquarters Hospital in Chilas. Shams Lone, the Interior Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, held a press conference with special assistants, stating that the firing on the passenger bus near Chilas is an act of terrorism.
Lone asserted that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack would be brought to justice, and the involvement of India in the terrorist incident cannot be ruled out. According to BBC,
