Tel Aviv: Following Hamas’ attacks on Israel and the death of more than 600 individuals, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared a state of war, calling for an immediate evacuation of Palestinian residents from Gaza.
According to reports from Israeli media, Hamas has carried out attacks on Israel from the sea, land, and air in recent days, resulting in over 600 casualties. The Israeli government’s press office also confirmed the casualties, stating that more than 600 people have been killed, with over 2,000 injured, and nearly 100 people sheltered.
On the other hand, authorities in Gaza report that Israeli airstrikes have resulted in 370 casualties and over 2,200 injuries. This is the largest attack since the establishment of the Israeli state in 1948, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared Israel is facing a protracted and challenging war.
In a message on his social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Benjamin Netanyahu said, “We are beginning a prolonged and difficult war forced upon us by Hamas’ deadly attacks.” He urged the residents of Gaza to evacuate immediately, stating that they will take extensive action everywhere.
He also mentioned that he had spoken with U.S. President Joe Biden and other world leaders to secure international support for Israel’s pursuit of freedom and thanked them for their unwavering support.
Netanyahu also addressed Israeli citizens, saying, “We are in this campaign together. It will take time, it will be tough, difficult days are ahead of us, but I promise one thing – we will prevail.”
After a meeting of the Israeli Security Cabinet on Sunday, Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces have destroyed a significant number of enemy forces that infiltrated Israel’s borders, and they have initiated their aggressive operations. He emphasized that these operations would continue without any pause until their objectives are achieved.
Israeli forces have targeted Gaza with intense bombings, resulting in the destruction of numerous buildings and cutting off electricity, fuel, and essential supplies in various areas. Additionally, following rocket attacks from Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israel has carried out aerial operations in Lebanon as well.
Previously, the Israeli military had stated that early in the morning, there had been confrontations between Israeli forces and scores of militants in about 22 locations inside Israel, with two locations where armed militants have been identified.
Netanyahu concluded his statement on “X” by saying, “We are beginning a prolonged and difficult war forced upon us by Hamas’ deadly attacks.” He added that the first phase, which involves the destruction of a significant portion of enemy forces in their area, is coming to an end, and they are entering an aggressive phase that will continue until the objectives are achieved without any limitations or delays. He assured the safety of Israeli citizens and expressed confidence in victory. (Source: Dawn News)
