Islamabad: According to sources, a recommendation has been made to discontinue the monthly provision of free units for officers from Grade 17 to Grade 21, and it is possible that approval for this proposal may be granted in the upcoming meeting on the summary of the Power Division by the Cabinet Committee on Energy.
Sources have indicated that discontinuing the facility of free units will result in an annual savings of more than 6 billion rupees.
It has been suggested that officers of Grade 17 be given 15,858 rupees instead of 450 free units per month, officers of Grade 18 be given 21,996 rupees instead of 600 free units, and officers of Grade 19 be given 37,594 rupees instead of 880 free units per month, according to sources. Officers of Grade 20 are recommended to receive 46,992 rupees per month instead of 1,100 free units, and officers of Grade 21 are recommended to receive 55,536 rupees per month instead of 1,300 free units.
According to sources, officers of Grade 17 in the Generation Company are recommended to receive 24,570 rupees, officers of Grade 18 to receive 26,460 rupees instead of free units, and officers of Grade 19 to receive 42,720 rupees.
Sources suggest that officers of Grade 20 in the Generation Company be given 46,992 rupees instead of free units, and officers of Grade 21 be given 55,536 rupees per month.
Sources have also mentioned that employees up to Grade 16 will continue to receive the current facility of free electricity.
