Lahore: Muhammad Junaid Safdar, the son of Maryam Nawaz, the Vice President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), and the grandson of former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif, has confirmed his divorce on his marriage to Ayesha Saif Khan, the daughter of former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Saif-ur-Rehman Khan in December 2021.
The wedding ceremony of both lasted for several days, during which various members of the Khan and Nawaz families were seen in high spirits. There were no reports of disagreements between Muhammad Junaid Safdar and his wife in the media; however, in recent days, there were rumors circulating on social media about their divorce.
On October 12, Muhammad Junaid Safdar confirmed his divorce in his Instagram story. He wrote in a brief Instagram story that the news of their divorce is true.
He further stated that the divorce is their personal matter and requested the media to respect their privacy when reporting on their marriage ending.
Expressing hope, he wrote that he expects the decision of divorce to bring peace and happiness for both him and his former wife.
He made it clear that he does not want to discuss the matter further and also extended his best wishes and prayers for his former wife’s well-being and betterment.
It’s worth noting that Junaid Safdar’s wedding was a grand celebration in the Sharif family, taking place several years after Maryam Nawaz’s daughter, Mehrun Nisa Safdar, got married in 2015.
