Lahore: Chief selector of the national cricket team, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has resigned from his position. In his statement, Inzamam-ul-Haq stated that people make baseless accusations, and he believes that it’s better to resign if questions are raised. It’s better to step aside when questions are raised, he said. He also mentioned that he is available for any inquiry conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board, and he urged that evidence be presented without making baseless allegations. Inzamam-ul-Haq emphasized that he has no connection with any player’s agent company, and such allegations are baseless. He stated that when allegations were made against him, he talked to the board and suggested that they conduct an inquiry if they have any doubts. He received a call informing him that a committee of five people had been formed, so he decided to step down from his position until the committee completes its investigation.
Inzamam-ul-Haq further stated that once everything is cleared, he will sit down with the PCB and cooperate with the inquiry. He believes that it is essential to have transparent investigations, and he emphasized that he has no connection with any company in his life, neither in the past nor in the future. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong.
PCB Forms Committee:
On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board has issued a statement in which it mentioned that the board has set up a 5-member investigative committee to look into the allegations related to the clash of interests reported in the media concerning the team’s selection process. The statement also mentioned that the committee will present its report and recommendations to the PCB’s management soon.
It should be noted that Inzamam-ul-Haq has resigned from his position at a time when the national cricket team is in India for the World Cup and is facing a series of defeats. Green shirts have lost four consecutive matches in the event.
