    Gas prices increased by 175 percent from tomorrow

    Islamabad: The federal government has approved an increase in gas prices. The Petroleum Division has issued a notification regarding the increase in gas prices, and the new prices will be applicable from November 1st.
    According to the notification, the monthly gas prices for protected consumers using 25 to 90 cubic meters of gas have not been increased. However, fixed charges for protected consumers have been increased from 10 rupees to 400 rupees.
    The announcement states that the gas prices for non-protected domestic consumers have been increased by over 172%. For monthly usage of 25 cubic meters, the price has been raised from 200 to 300 rupees per MMBTU, and for monthly usage of 60 cubic meters, the gas price has been increased from 300 to 600 rupees per MMBTU.
    It is further mentioned in the announcement that for monthly usage of 100 cubic meters, the gas price has been increased from 400 to 1000 rupees, for monthly usage of 150 cubic meters, the gas price has been raised from 600 to 1200 rupees, and for monthly usage of 200 cubic meters, the gas price has been increased from 800 to 1600 rupees per MMBTU.
    According to the announcement, for monthly usage of 300 cubic meters, the gas price has been raised from 1100 to 3000 rupees, for monthly usage of 400 cubic meters, the gas price has been increased from 2000 to 3500 rupees, and for monthly usage exceeding 400 cubic meters, the price has been increased from 3100 to 4000 rupees per MMBTU.
    The gas price for tandoors remains at 600 rupees, while power plants will pay 1050 rupees per MMBTU. The cement sector will pay 4400 rupees, and the CNG sector will pay 3600 rupees.
    For the export industry, the gas price is set at 2100 rupees, and for non-export industries, the gas price is set at 2200 rupees per MMBTU.
    It should be noted that there were earlier reports that the federal cabinet had temporarily halted the increase in gas prices.
