This was the time around 1987 or 1988 when we saw Amin Khan with Maqbool BukhariMarhoom at Baba Hotel. Maqbool Bukhari was associated with the business recorder at that time, and his office was near Baba Hotel. Maqbool used to refer Amin Khan as his disciple. However, Amin Khan always complain me about him; it was his childish time. He used to come to Baba Hotel to indulge in poetry. It was this interest in poetry that led him to Athar Nasik, and in 1990 Nasik bhanded him over to Baidil Haideri. But Baidil Haideri could not handle him for long, either, with poetry or otherwise. In fact, he was looking for a job, which later took him to Lahore and then Karachi.
Amin Khan was related to the Ismaili family of Multan’s interior city. This family was associated with jewelry. Amin Khan was such a gem of the jewelry family that no jeweler could even test. In 1992, he spent some time with me in the local paper of multan Ailan e Haq. At that time, Nazar Baloch was also in the same newspaper. Perhaps in that same newspaper, we also went on a recreational trip to Fort Munro with the employees’ group. Amin Khan was also with us on that recreational trip.
Then, in search of a job, he first went to Lahore and later permanently moved to Karachi. When the chain of employment is uneven, married life also begins to falter. The same happened with Amin Khan. A few years ago, he came to Multan and, after hearing many sorrows from friends, told them that his wife, tired of poverty, had left him and taken the household goods with her. Then the Karachi Press Club became his residence.
Some time ago, he was distressed by unemployment and had threatened to commit suicide in front of the office of Ummat newspaper. This newspaper did not pay his months’ wages on time.
During the time of Corona, I had last contacted Amin Khan. He had told me stories of heavy-handedness. He also told me that he wanted to come back to Multan. But fate did not allow it. Today, this gem of the jeweler family of Karachi has been buried in the ground.
