Quetta: In a “suicide blast” near a mosque in Mastung district, at least 34 people, including a police officer, lost their lives, and more than 100 citizens were injured.According to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Hospital Mastung, Dr. Saeed Mirwani, the number of fatalities in the explosion was 34, while the number of injured exceeded 100.
Dr. Saeed Mirwani stated that the bodies of 28 individuals have been transferred to Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital, and over 90 injured are being provided with medical care. Despite having a hospital with 50 beds, they are handling over 100 injured individuals, and the hospital staff is present, utilizing all available resources. More than 20 injured have been referred to Quetta after receiving medical attention. The process of transferring bodies and injured individuals is still ongoing.
City Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Javaid Lohri mentioned that the explosion was a “suicide” attack, and the bomber detonated near DSP Nawaz Gishkori’s vehicle. Javaid Lohri explained that the suicide attacker collided with DSP City Ali Nawaz Gishkori’s vehicle, resulting in the explosion.
The Assistant Commissioner stated that the explosion occurred near Madina Mosque on Al-Falah Road, where people had gathered due to Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.It should be noted that earlier this month, an explosion in Mastung left 11 people injured, including senior JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah. A week before this explosion, unidentified individuals shot and killed a Levies official at a bus stand.
