Wave of conjunctivitis (pink eye) takes hold in Punjab

Lahore: In the Punjab province, a wave of conjunctivitis (pink eye) has taken hold. According to the Punjab Health Department, the total number of conjunctivitis patients in the province has reached 86,133. In just the past 24 hours, an additional 13,732 cases of conjunctivitis have been reported in the province, with 3,878 of them originating from Bahawalpur district alone The Punjab Health Department has reported that during the past 24 hours, 1,721 cases of conjunctivitis were reported in Faisalabad and 887 in Lahore.
So far this year, there have been 16,744 cases of conjunctivitis in Bahawalpur, 10,022 in Faisalabad, and 7,578 in Lahore. There has been a rapid increase in cases in the past three months, and medical experts advise citizens to take precautions. Affected individuals should wear glasses, and they should avoid sharing towels and other items with others. It is important to wash hands frequently.
To prevent the possible spread of conjunctivitis infection, all public and private educational institutions across the province of Punjab have been announced to remain closed from Thursday to Sunday. It is worth noting that cases of conjunctivitis infection have been reported in various cities across Punjab. The decision to close schools in Punjab has been taken to keep children safe from the conjunctivitis outbreak.
