Bahawalnagar : A lecturer has been arrested by the police on serious charges of harassing a female student at Islamia University. The student filed a complaint alleging that the lecturer sent her unethical messages and videos via WhatsApp and threatened to fail her in exams and expel her from the university. According to the police, the student stated in her application that the lecturer initially contacted her on WhatsApp and gradually started sending inappropriate content. When the student complained about this behavior, the accused threatened to ruin her future, saying that if she did not cooperate, he would fail her in exams and have her expelled from the university. Acting promptly on the student’s application, the police registered a case of harassment and threats against the lecturer and took him into custody. The police also confiscated the accused’s mobile phone and initiated an investigation to gather evidence of the unethical messages and videos. The administration of Islamia University expressed deep regret over the incident, stating that such occurrences in educational institutions will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The university administration further stated that they would fully cooperate with the police in the investigation to ensure the responsible party is punished according to the law. Following this incident, there is a wave of fear and concern among the female students at the university. Student organizations have demanded that strict measures be taken against incidents of harassment at the university and that severe penalties be imposed on such offenders to prevent future occurrences. Police officials stated that legal action will be taken against the accused after the investigation is completed, emphasizing that any form of harassment in educational institutions is unacceptable and they will ensure the accused is punished according to the law
