Multan ( BY Abdul Hannan Sports Reporter) : The England cricket team has begun preparations for their much-anticipated Test series against Pakistan, with the first two matches of the ICC World Test Championship set to be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The opening Test is scheduled to kick off on October 7, 2024.
Today, the team practiced from 10 AM to 1 PM at the stadium, with head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes taking a close look at the pitch conditions ahead of the match. Their assessment will be crucial in forming the strategy and lineup for the series opener.
Several players, including Ben Duckett, Chris Woakes, Ollie Pope, Gus Atkinson, Rehan Ahmed, Zak Crawley, and Harry Brook, were seen putting in extra hours of practice, hinting that they are likely to be part of the playing XI for Monday’s match.
England comes into this series fresh off a home victory against Sri Lanka, winning the series 2-1. However, they are aiming to bounce back from a loss in the final match of that series. On the other hand, Pakistan is looking to regain form after a disappointing series defeat to Bangladesh.
Currently, England stands 4th in the World Test Championship rankings, while Pakistan is positioned at 8th. Both teams will be eager to improve their standings as they face off in this crucial Test series.
