Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has ordered the transfer of the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to Adiala Jail in the Saif-ur-Rehman case.The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Aamir Farooq, heard the request regarding the jail facilities for the PTI Chairman.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court remarked, “Chairman PTI is an under-trial prisoner in the Saif-ur-Rehman case, and all under-trial prisoners in Islamabad are held in Adiala Jail. Why has the under-trial prisoner been kept in Attock Jail?”
Justice Aamir Farooq also mentioned that in the Toshakhana case, he was kept in Attock Jail, and his sentence has been suspended. If you are transferring him tomorrow to Rahim Yar Khan, will he be tried there?
The Islamabad High Court also sought a response from Additional Attorney General Munawar Iqbal Dogar.
The Chief Justice of Islamabad stated, “According to the law, under-trial prisoners in Islamabad should be in Adiala Jail. Shift Chairman PTI to Adiala Jail.”Justice Aamir Farooq pointed out that it had been reported that there is no A, B, and C class in jail anymore.
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, responded that now there are common and better classes in jail, and they are entitled to the better class. Justice Aamir Farooq commented, “It is established that Chairman PTI is entitled to the better class. Chairman PTI is a former prime minister and an educated person. According to jail rules, he should be provided the things he is entitled to. Chairman PTI should not be deprived of any rights.”
It is worth remembering that Chairman PTI was sentenced to 3 years in prison in the Toshakhana case on August 5, 2023, and he was arrested in Lahore and taken to Attock Jail. It was in Attock Jail that FIA arrested Imran Khan in the Saif-ur-Rehman case.
