Islamabad: The government, while announcing an unexpected increase, has made petrol more expensive by 26.02 Pakistani Rupees per liter. According to the government’s announcement, the new price of petrol per liter after an increase of 26.02 Pakistani Rupees will be 331.38 Pakistani Rupeethe per liter price of high-speed diesel has been increased by 17.34 Pakistani Rupees, with a new price of 329.18 Pakistani Rupees set. It should be noted that last week, due to a decrease in the value of the rupee and an increase in international oil prices, there was a fear of an increase in petroleum product prices once again.According to a report by Dawn newspaper, sources familiar with the matter had stated that the prices of both major petroleum products, petrol and high-speed diesel, could increase by 10 to 14 Pakistani Rupees and 14 to 16 Pakistani Rupees per liter, respectively, while the price of kerosene could also increase by nearly 10 Pakistani Rupees per literRemember that on August 31st, the caretaker government had announced another consecutive increase in the prices of petroleum products, after which, for the first time in the country’s history, the price of petrol and diesel had crossed 300 Pakistani Rupees per liter. On August 31st, it had not even been a month since the caretaker government took over, but despite this, there had been continuous increases in prices, and during this period, there had been an increase of 35 Pakistani Rupees per liter in the prices of petrol and diesel.Prior to that, on August 16th, the caretaker government had also increased the per-liter price of petrol and diesel by 17.50 Pakistani Rupees and 20 Pakistani Rupees, respectively.
