Sialkot: Senior anchor and journalist Imran Riaz Khan’s lawyer, Mr. Ali Ashfaq, has claimed that Imran Riaz Khan’s physical and mental condition is not very good.
Speaking to BBC, lawyer Mr. Ali Ashfaq stated that after his recovery, he had a three-hour-long meeting with Imran Riaz Khan. According to Mr. Ali Ashfaq, “They are in shock, and in the past four months, they have lost a considerable amount of weight. Currently, they are unable to speak properly, to the extent that they have difficulty understanding and completing sentences.”
The lawyer mentioned that for the improvement of Imran Riaz Khan’s health, necessary medical tests will be conducted, and they will consult with doctors. He further stated, “I believe this entire process could take a minimum of three to four months. Only when they are completely healthy, we will proceed with legal matters according to their instructions.”
Following Imran Riaz Khan’s return to Lahore, journalist Shahid Islam, who met him, stated that Imran Riaz Khan’s family informed the Lahore police officers that he had reached his residence in the Multan Road area of Lahore around 5 a.m. on Monday.They mentioned that the police also received a receipt from the family, confirming that Imran Riaz Khan was safely at home. However, the police did not disclose how Imran Riaz Khan had reached there.
Recall that Imran Riaz Khan was apprehended at Sialkot Airport on May 9th, two days after the May 7th disturbances, while attempting to leave the country. He was taken to the Cantt and Sialkot jail, and on May 15th, the police informed the court that Imran Riaz Khan had been released from jail after signing an affidavit and was no longer in police custody.Imran Riaz Khan’s father lodged an FIR of the alleged abduction at Sialkot’s Soul Lines police station on May 16th, and also filed a habeas corpus petition in the Lahore High Court for his recovery. The Lahore High Court had given Punjab Police Inspector General Osman Anwar until September 13th to recover anchor Imran Riaz Khan, and on September 20th, they issued a final deadline for his recovery by September 26th.
